The Inaugural Season patch that graces the chest of the uniforms for the team in their first season in the NHL.

The wordmark brings the team nickname front and center and combines it with the primary wings.

The secondary logo calls to mind the Space needle, one of Seattle's most iconic landmarks and blends with the wings of the primary logo.

After almost a hundred years, hockey has returned to Seattle.

Once it was announce the next NHL team was going to be based in Seattle, I immediately began thinking of what they would name the team and how I would approach forming the team's identity.

Seattle Pilots Branding

And thus, the Seattle Pilots were born. Using the history of aviation as the basis for the identity, as well as the geography and history of the region, the identity began to take shape. The Primary Logo evokes the imagery of a pair of pilots wings, given to pilots who trained to become the best of the best.

The colors of the logo play off that idea as well as the surrounding region. The darker green references the Seattle Metropolitans, the last major-pro team to play in Seattle. The lighter green comes from the surrounding lush forests of Seattle, and the gold honors the same pilots that inspired the logo.
